Today's puzzle

Easter word search for the egg hunt

Bunny, basket, daffodil, duckling, chocolate: an Easter puzzle with short, gentle words. It is the easiest list on the site to read, which makes it a good first word search for a small child.

Rules

Words from the basket, the garden and Sunday morning

Most words in the Easter list have six letters or fewer, which is why this page suits beginners. The animals come first: bunny, rabbit, chick, lamb and duckling, with a nest to hatch in. Then the hunt: eggs that are painted and hidden in the grass, a basket to collect them, jelly sweets, candy, chocolate and other treats, and a carrot for the rabbit. The flowers of the season are lily, tulip, daffodil and blossom in a garden in april. The day itself is a sunday with church, bells, a bonnet, a parade, family and brunch.

An egg hunt ends quickly, and a puzzle is a calm way to follow it. One idea is to roll a printed word search into each basket in place of one more sweet. Another is to make the puzzle part of the hunt: hide the sheets with the eggs, and give a small prize to the child who finds the most words, not the most eggs.

In Sunday school or an ordinary classroom, the easy grid can be finished by children who have only just begun to read, because the words are short and go in the two directions they know. Read the list aloud together first. Older brothers and sisters can take the hard grid, where the same small words become much harder to see once they may be written backwards.

Tips

How these puzzles are made and checked

A separate scan reads the finished grid from every cell in all eight directions. Every listed word must be found exactly once, at the stored position, and the grid must not spell a word from our deny list outside the listed words.

LevelPuzzlesWhat the bank contains
Easy3668 words of 4 to 8 letters in a 10 by 10 grid, 2 directions, 1 themes
Hard36614 words of 4 to 9 letters in a 13 by 13 grid, 8 directions, 1 themes

The puzzle of the day is chosen by the date on your device: puzzle 1 was the puzzle for 1 January 2026, and the number goes up by one each day. Easy: 366 puzzles, so the same puzzle comes round again after 366 days. Hard: 366 puzzles, so the same puzzle comes round again after 366 days. Every number stays open in the archive control above the grid. More detail is on the page how the puzzles are made and checked.

Questions

What age is the Easter word search for?

The easy grid is meant for early readers and the hard grid for older children and adults. These labels describe the grids; we have not tested them against school grades.

Is it religious?

Mostly it is about the egg hunt, the animals and the spring flowers. Church, bells and sunday are in the list for the traditional side of the day. The words in a given grid are shown under it, so you can see them before printing.

Can I print several different puzzles for a group?

Yes. There are 732 grids on the page over 2 levels. Step through them with Next and print each one; every sheet carries its number.

Where are the answers?

Print with solution prints them on a second page. On screen, Reveal one shows a word you have not found.
