Christmas and winter word searches
The puzzles for December to February. Christmas has both a word search and a word scramble; winter, New Year and Valentine's Day each have a word search with their own list of words.
Christmas word search
Santa, sleigh, tinsel and carols in an easy or a hard grid, new every day.
Christmas word scramble
Jumbled Christmas words to put right: a short-word round and a long-word round.
Winter word search
Snow, ice, warm clothes and winter sports. No holiday words, so it fits any classroom.
New Year word search
Countdown, confetti, fireworks and resolutions for New Year's Eve and the first week of January.
Valentine's Day word search
Hearts, roses, cards and kind words, written to suit a classroom as well as a couple.
Which winter puzzle fits which day?
The Christmas word search is the one to print for the last week of school, the office party or the table on the day itself. Its list mixes decorations, food and traditional words such as carol and nativity. The Christmas word scramble uses the same list and works better as a game played aloud: read out the jumbled letters and let the room shout the answer.
The winter word search has no holiday in it at all. It is about snow, ice, warm clothes and winter sports, which makes it the safe choice for a mixed classroom, for January when the decorations are down, and for places where winter means a different holiday or none.
New Year is a short season, so that puzzle is built around one evening: the countdown, the fireworks, the resolutions. Valentine's Day closes the winter set in February with words about cards, flowers and friendship rather than romance alone, so it can be handed to a class of children without awkwardness.
